CTEC – Center for Theology, Ecology, and Culture

The Center for Theology, Ecology, and Culture (CTEC) is a small but lively interdisciplinary research center committed to high quality research, education, and collaborations with civil society.

CTEC’s purpose is to enact creative zones to explore and develop knowledge and action for a sustainable world. We collaborate with artists, activists, creative practitioners, eco theorists, ecologists, mystics, environmentally engaged churches and congregations, and more.

In the borderlands of theology, ecology and culture the CTEC curates:

  • Creative zones of improvised and dynamic interdisciplinary research networks of trust and risk that generate new ideas that can result in new methods and generate actionable and effective knowledge in service to a sustainable world.
  • Creative zones of classroom learning, where improvised and dynamic interdisciplinary assemblages of trust and risk are integrated throughout the university curriculum, generating more intimate and courageous learning and acting communities.
  • Creative zones of civic/public engagement/participation, where improvised and dynamic interdisciplinary assemblages of trust and risk are staged in innovative collaborations and partnerships with church leaders, artists, journalists, activists, cultural administrators, and dreamers.
