Theology and religious studies are essential components of the training programs for pastors, priests and other church workers but are also of huge importance to those working in public policy, development issues, community relations and politics. Teachers too will benefit from our courses as will those whose work involves understanding existential issues such as therapists counsellors and social workers.
We live in a world where human rights seem to be increasingly restricted and democratic principles are under attack in many countries. We offer an education in human rights and democracy which will equip you to answer today’s challenges and work effectively to establish democracy at national and local levels. It offers an excellent preparation for those who are thinking of working in local and national government, community relations, development and human rights work and with NGOs. But increasingly we see that major corporations and institutions are facing questions about the morality of what they do and the consequences of their activities and the education in human rights and democracy that we offer is important too for those who are contemplating commercial or business careers.
In addition, the skills you will learn here, critical thinking, clear and persuasive communication, reading, understanding and summarising complicated and demanding texts, working with others, are all crucial for any rewarding career today.
