Mathew Chandrankunnel
Prof. Dr. Mathew Chandrankunnel CMI is Distinguished Professor and Advisor to Centre for Advanced Research, Science and Technology. Also part of the Peace studies and Consciousness studies in organizing conferences, research and lectures at Maharshtra Institute of Technology – World Peace University, MIT- WPU (Pune). He was Director of Ecumenical Christian Centre, Whitefield, Bangalore (2016-2021). Professionally, Prof. Chandrankunnel is a professor of Philosophy and Physics, Science and Religion, Interreligious and Intercultural studies. After completing studies in physics and philosophy in various Indian Universities, Prof. Chandrankunnel received a doctorate from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Leuven, Belgium for successfully defending the thesis “In Search of a Causal Quantum Mechanics”, comparing two interpretations in Quantum Mechanics. For this thesis, he researched, at Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, Max Planck Institute, Munich, and interacted with Nobel Prize winners like Aage Bohr, Friedrich von Weizaecker and scientists like Abraham Pais, Peter Hodgson etc.
He Published The Philosophy of Physics, From Quantum Holism to Cosmic Holism: The Philosophy of Quantum Mechanics and numerous articles on physics and philosophy in National and International Journals.
Prof. Chandrankunnel did his post doctoral research studies at Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics, Harvard University, Cambridge, Boston under Prof. Owen Gingerich as his research associate and wrote the book on Galileo: The Ascent to Truth: The Physics, Philosophy and Religion of Galileo Galieli. Received the CTNS Templeton Award as a scientist and philosopher in 2000 and organized Local, National and International conferences on Science and Religion in Bangalore. Voted and Awarded twice as the best LSI Society Leader and is the founder Chairman of the Bangalore Forum for Science and Religion.
He gave lectures and presentations in many universities in India and abroad. He was a speaker at the Madhyamaka Buddhism and Quantum Mechanics Conference organized by His Holiness Dalai Lama and JNU, New Delhi, 2016. He also teaches Buddhist monks of the Sera Je University, Bylekuppa, Mysore, India on Physics and Philosophy. Organizes conferences on ABCD ( Asian Buddhist Christian Dialogue), AHCD ( Asian Hindu Christian Dialogue), ACID (Asian Christian Islam Dialogue) etc at ECC.
