Transforming Ecumenism – ”listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches” (Rev 2:7)
Sigtuna, Sweden, 27-30 June 2022
Originally, the conference was planned to be held in June 2020, but due to the on-going Corona Pandemic, the conference has been postponed to 2022.
Receptive Ecumenism is a fresh ecumenical methodology emphasizing receptivity, learning, and listening. Since its inception, the concept has taken root in many diverse contexts around the globe.
The fifth international conference on Receptive Ecumenism will continue exploring the ecclesiological reparative, critical constructive task of ecumenical ecclesiology that was introduced in the previous conferences.
At this conference, we hope to take this process a step further as we will reflect on the transformative impact of Receptive Ecumenism as an instrument for ecclesial transformation. To which extend are the churches willing to “listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches” (Rev 2:7)? As in the previous conferences, we will have the opportunity to listen to our keynote speakers in plenaries as well as to paper presentations in a number of parallel sessions.

Book launch – Sharing and learning
4 October 2021 the book ”Sharing and Learning: Bible, Mission, and Receptive Ecumenism” was launched. This book reflects a mission pilgrimage that took place in Sweden 2016-2017 where Receptive Ecumenism served as a method for a deepened understanding of mission and unity. The book is produced in cooperation between World Council of Churches, Christian Council of Churches and SMC – Faith in Development.
