Methodology and Literature Course – Eastern Christian Studies

This course is a preparation for writing a Bachelor thesis in Eastern Christian Studies. The first part of the course deepens the knowledge and use of the particular methods and theories regarding one of three perspectives of Eastern Christian Studies: Church History, particularly Patristics; Liturgics; or Ecclesiology.

After the course the student is expected to:

  • show an understanding of how theories of theology interact with methods of theology
  • demonstrate knowledge about theories and methods and be able to use these methods related to the field chosen
  • be able to read and interpret texts, with the methods provided in the course

Examinationsformer

  • Hemtentamen

60 credits in Theology, including 30 credits from Introductory courses, and the courses Text, Context and Interpretation of life 15 credits, and History of Eastern Christianity (Intermediate level) 7,5 credits or equivalent.

Alternatively: 60 credits in Theology: Theology, introductory courses, 30 credits, the courses Text, kontext och livstolkning/Text, Context and Interpretation of life 15 credits and Teologi, religion och kyrka i Sverige/Theology, Religion and Churches in Sweden 15 hp, or eqvivalent.
