History of Eastern Christianity: Mission and Development

The course provides a basic understanding of the Orthodox  churches, with a particular emphasis on mission and development. The course also gives a historical overview of the history and characteristics of the Orthodox Churches, and a presentation of these churches today.

By the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to:

  • describe Eastern Christianity with its various characteristics;
  • distinguish a timeline of Eastern Christianity and identify the major historical events of Eastern Christianity;
  • compare various Orthodox Churches;
  • reflect on church and mission studies as a discipline.
