The field study program-MFS

Minor Field Studies (MFS) is a Sida-funded scholarship for minor field studies. It gives students at universities and colleges the opportunity to collect material for their essay or degree project on site in a country.

MFS means that for at least 8 weeks on site in a developing country, a student can collect material for their thesis or their degree project for a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

The study must focus on questions that are important for the economic, social, political or academic development in the country the student is going to. To be able to make their trip, the student can apply for the MFS scholarship of SEK 27 000.

Criteria for applying for the scholarship

In order for a student to be able to apply for the scholarship at EHS, the student must

at the time of departure have taken at least 150 higher education credits (For MR students at EHS, 120 credits apply)

-not have started education at postgraduate level

-have good knowledge of English

-write the essay in English or the official language of the host country

-be a Swedish citizen or have a permanent residence permit in Sweden
