Simon Hallonsten is a Lecturer in Practical Theology at University College Stockholm and the Coordinator for the Center for Theology, Ecology, and Culture (CTEC). His research in Christian religious education integrates participatory action research with creative methodologies, aiming to explore new approaches to continuous formation and theological engagement. Simon is particularly interested in the role of creativity and creative writing in academic knowledge production and Christian religious education, believing that these elements can foster deeper understanding and engagement. Through his work with CTEC, he seeks to collaborate with churches and faith-based organizations to develop ecocritical pedagogies that encourage a rethinking and reorientation towards the ecological crisis. Originally from Germany, Simon now resides in Stockholm with his children and partner, where he continues to combine his professional pursuits with a passion for community engagement and environmental advocacy.
