Publications and lectures

Sara Gehlin is a senior lecturer at University College Stockholm. She teaches in the Department for Religious Studies and Theology and the Department for Human Rights and Democracy. Sara defended her doctoral dissertation on the role of theology in peacebuilding in year 2016 at the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies, Lund University. She has also worked as a researcher at the Church of Sweden Research Department in Uppsala, and in the interdisciplinary research project “Reason and Religious Recognition” at the Faculty of Theology, University of Helsinki.

Her research concerns issues of ecumenical peacebuilding, interfaith and ecumenical dialogue, the history of the ecumenical movement, religion and conflict resolution, and the intersection of feminist theology and peace theology. In recent years, her writing has also concerned the contemporary development of receptive ecumenism.

Sara is a commissioner in the World Council of Churches Commission on Education and Ecumenical Formation and a member of the Steering Committee for Theological Education and Formation of the Lutheran World Federation. She is also a member of the Work Group for Ecumenical Theology at the Christian Council of Sweden.
