Master Program in Human Rights and Democracy
Why did you choose to study at University College Stockholm?
In my current position I focus a lot on human rights and democracy and I felt an urge to anchor this position also academically, I was curious about the current research field and also on streghtening my know how in a more theoretical perspective. Also, I found it motivational to add a Masters degree to my list of merits. That this program was offered in English was also a contributing factor to my decision to sign up.
What are the three best things about studying Master’s Program in Human rights and Democracy?
The seminars and the interesting literature lists, reading and analyzing research and discussing with fellow students. The very well organized and planned structure for the program, which supported my balancing with work as for example offering literature-lists in advance so that I could prepare much of the reading during summer for instance. The connection with the sectors/field of human rights and democracy, with guest lecturers and other options of networking.
What has felt challenging in the studies?
Less than I thought! The expectations and tempo fairly high and challenging, but for students with good motivation and strict work ethics it is really rewarding.
What do you want to do/work with after you have graduated?
I wish to continue my path as leader in civil society, and in development with focus on human rights with an special interest in the rights of the child and women’s rights.
How helpful will your studies from UCS be to your future career?
They will add a formal recognition of acquired knowledge on human rights and democracy and also strengthen my CV.
What would you like to say to someone who is considering applying for the Master’s program in Human Rights and Democracy at UCS?
Do it! It is the best way to get both overview and deep insight in some of the most crucial future areas of human rights and democracy i:e: life, coexisting as species, as society and as planet.
