Course
Internship, Human Rights
The course includes application of previous human rights studies in a concrete work situation, from problem identification to analysis and action, as well as the receiving workplace’s internal considerations and motives for different actions. Documentation, writing assignments or presentations are included in the course to the extent that the receiving workplace also uses these tools. The student is expected to be active and to search for an internship. The internship must be approved by UCS. The internship should last 18-20 weeks and should not be paid. For internships abroad, you must follow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ recommendations on which countries you can travel to.
After the course, the student is expected to independently demonstrate deeper and broader understanding, as well as a high degree of awareness and independence in skills, values and attitudes by:
- being able to account for knowledge of human rights and rights-based approaches in practical activities in civil society, a government agency, a non-profit organization or equivalent
- be able to orally and in writing reflect on, account for and summarize their experiences from practice
- be able to independently and critically report on a relevant theme during the internship
The course literature may be subject to revision.
