Program

Religious Educator Program

The studies are full-time and for a student with a bachelor’s degree in a theological or biblical subject the education takes two years. Students with a bachelor’s degree in a subject within the humanities other than theology will study for three years.

Students on this program will receive a theological education at master’s level with a focus on Eastern Christian Studies at Stockholm School of Theology. At Sankt Ignatios College in Södertälje the studies will focus on pedagogical studies like how to create a safe and stimulating learning environment within a Church congregation or a diocese, and how to encourage participation in the life of the Church by clergy and lay members.

You will study subjects as:
– Eastern Christian liturgics and ecclesiology
– Theory and method in Eastern Christianity
– Sources of faith
– Patristics
– The Scripture in Eastern Christianity
– Methodology
– Masters’ thesis

Godkända kurser för en kandidatexamen i teologi/religionsvetenskap, 180 högskolepoäng,där minst 60 högskolepoäng utgörs av religionsvetenskap/teologi inklusive ett examensarbete om 15 högskolepoäng. Minst 15 högskolepoäng i östkyrkliga studier, eller motsvarande religionsvetenskapligt huvudområde/ämne, på fördjupningsnivå ska ingå.
Student med andra relevanta ämnen eller motsvarande utländsk examen kan antas efter särskild prövning.
