Course
Historical Theology with Church History
The course gives an overview of church history, and studies how the church is formed through interaction between dogmatics, philosophy, culture and church practices. The connection between theological reflection and practice is highlighted. The course introduces the diversity that characterizes Christianity, both in the traditions of the historical churches and in the modern society.
At the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- be familiar with the main features of the history of dogmatic theology and Christian philosophy
- be familiar with how practice has related to theory in history
- be able to argue source-critically and be familiar with basic historical methods
- demonstrate knowledge of the history of Christianity, including the great church families
