The Church as Polis, Distance Education
The course presents the historical vision of primacy and synodality from the angel of history and ecclesiology. Especially the concepts of communion and papacy are introduced, and how they have been vindicated in history.
At the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- show profound understanding of the connection between primacy and church from various perspectives
- display considerable insight in the historical discussion on papacy
- demonstrate independently the capability of analyzing historical debates and represent them accurately
- reflect critically on the use of power in the Church

A Bachelor's degree in Theology (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen) from an internationally recognized university, Including at least 15 credits in Eastern Christian Studies or equivalent. Certicifed proficiency in English documented by means of an internationally recognized proficiency test, e. g. TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent.
Attendance at lectures and seminars is mandatory at Stockholm School of Theology.
