Name of the project/report:
The right to maternal health: Case studies of Nepal and Sri Lanka

Tell us about the report and why did you choose to write about this subject?
The report is on Right to Maternal Health : Case studies of Nepal and Sri-Lanka. The main purpose of this study is to shed light on the maternal health condition in Nepal and Sri-Lanka which situated in South-Asia.While Discussing our topic with my team both of the country still struggling with maternal mortality. Women still dying due to preventable causes during child birth. It violates the right to have safe motherhood and somehow violates right to life of those women. Both of the country have ratified the international convention ensuring reproductive health rights and also committed to SDGs for reducing maternal death but still they are unable to reduce it.Mere not having basic infrastructure and proper awareness causing the deaths of mothers. So to bring light on this issue of these 2 countries I choose this topic.

Did you work in team or independently? How was it to work in team/independently?
So, I work in team. Malmi and Sahan were my teammates. I was my first group project. We are from different country and have different perspectives towards seeing or analyzing issues and solving it. It was difficult at first but with the we got our pace. It was challenging to ideas of 3 different people in one document. But we got our way. I took Nepal part , Sahan took Sri-Lanka and Malmi work with international arena.

What was challenging in the process of writing the report?
So as I talk above, firstly it was hard to incorporate our ideas into one report. With different views and perspectives it was hard to set up the ideas systematically. And for me it was difficult to find the material and statistic about the maternal health situation in Nepal. Different stakeholders and government had different statistic. It was difficult for me to keep right information in right way. Making structure for this was the main challenge which we all face.

What skills and experiences from previous courses in human rights were helpful during your work with the report?
Honestly, my perspectives towards seeing human right issues have changed a lot after I started my classes here. I gained so much of knowledge in both practicality and theoretical. To study you need to know its past or history so I gained that knowledge and learned lot about way of analyzing the situation and legal documents. So all these help me to make this report more analytical and address the issues.

What skills and experiences from this course will help you in the future?
I think now I know what can I do. Research and leading a group. These 2 things are the main things which I have gained from this experience. We should see or think about a problem from every perspective to reach a proper solution this will help me in future no matter what the problem I will need to solve or to do a research.
